Wonderful staff, excellent beds and a very nice swimming pool. The chef made some very good meals and the room was very spacious and very new. The staff is also very helpful if you want to explore the island. I can highly recommend Mafia Dream Hotel if you are looking for a place at Mafia Island.

Boasting garden views, Mafia Island Bungalows offers accommodation with a garden and a balcony, around 6.1 km from Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve. The staff was amazing, very hospitable and took care of everything. Breakfast and dinner was great, they have a really great chef and attentive personnel. They also rented us bikes for free, such that we could drive to the dive shop (~10 minutes by bike). Great and inexpensive stay!

Ali and his team provided superior service catering to our every need, whether it was last minute activity, transport or meal request. Super welcoming team doing their utmost to make us feel at home.

With Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve reachable in 6.8 km, Kitu Kiblu offers accommodation, a restaurant, a garden, a terrace and a bar. Some units feature a seating area and/or a balcony. KK is extremely tranquil and perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of anywhere else. The setting is so peaceful hidden under the high canopy of the tropical forest. The staff are amazing and so helpful with anything on the island. The food is tasty and great value. The area has no other tourists so very quiet. The outdoor showers with Kerosene heating is pretty cool too.

Set within 6.6 km of Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve in Kilindoni, Mgeni Homestay features accommodation with seating area. Mgeni Homestay was the best value accomodation that we've stayed in during our African travels. While the building itself is basic the rooms have everything you need: comfortable bed and pillows, mosquito net, ceiling fan, somewhere to sit that isn't the bed and places to hang your drying towels (and clothes if you've done some handwashing). Aly was also very helpful at organising excursions and taxis for us, while Bunda cooked fresh, delicious and generous meals (including a good amount of vegetables, which can be hard to come by). The homestay is close enough to the airport that you can walk there if you have packs (not ok for wheelie suitcases) and don't mind a hot walk. The ATMs are also a short walk further than the airport so they are also accessible. We appreciated our stay so much that we returned for second stay before leaving the island.
