Didn't do the tour but queued in the rain for 20 minutes for the shop which was very poor compared to others like Glenfiddich etc. No samples (presumably using the Covid excuse) and no exhibition or information that you find in other distilleries. The prices are extortionate as they are in all distilleries but I might have been tempted by a distillery reserve if I could have tried it first.

This was going to be one of the highlights of our trip and we managed to get there 20 mins before closing but was told by a very rude member of staff that we weren’t allowed in because it was to near to closing. Very disappointing.

Talisker distillery is an Island single malt Scotch whisky...

Talisker distillery is an Island single malt Scotch whisky distillery based in Carbost, Scotland on the Isle of Skye. The distillery is operated by Diageo, and is marketed as part of their Classic Malts series. The brand is sold as a premium whisky. Talisker whiskies have generally performed very well at international Spirit ratings competitions and have won some acclaim from liquor review organizations. The 10-, 18-, 25- and 30-year Taliskers have been awarded mostly gold medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The 10- and 18-year varieties, meanwhile, have received scores of 85-89 and 90-95 from Wine Enthusiast. Spirits ratings aggregator proof66.com, which averages scores from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Wine Enthusiast, and others, classifies Talisker's 10-year scotch in its highest ("Tier 1") performance category. The spirit is most frequently matured in American oak casks. The malt is peated to a phenol level of approximately 18–22 parts per million (ppm), which is a medium peating level. Additionally, the water used for production, from Cnoc nan Speireag (Hawk Hill), flows over peat which adds additional complexity to the whisky. The distillery began producing special bottlings of the whisky for connoisseurs in the early 2000s, with a 20- and 25-year bottling (where previously only a 10-year and 18-year were available). The 25-year bottling, despite being more expensive than the 20-year bottling, was distributed more widely. In 2007 Talisker 18-year-old won "Best Single Malt In The World 2007" at the World Whiskies Awards and in 2015 Talisker 10 Year Old won a Double Gold Medal and "Best Single Malt Scotch up to 12 years" in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

It’s a small village and a popular destination. Parking is limited and if you’re there around lunchtime there aren’t many food options and the old inn gets really busy but it was worth the wait, great feel and the food was good.

Didn’t take the tour because I had already gone on another tour at a different distillery. A great spot to take a tour of you haven’t already done so. The original distillery I went to was one of the smaller places so I feel it kind of ruined the bigger distillers for me :) because this felt more commercialized. Staff was plenty nice and helpful though.
