Facing the Tagus River and built on seven hills, charming Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world. It offers unique tram rides, intimate Fado performances, great dining venues and much more.
The city is famous for its districts: the Belém's famous monuments; the Alfama's labyrinthine streets, bars and small shops; and the trendy Alcântara's docks. Lisbon’s most popular nightlife and shopping venues are located in Bairro Alto, while the traditional heart of the city beats rhythmically in the Baixa.
Enjoy a walk in the greenery of Jardim Botânico, admire the architecture of the Jerónimos Monastery or explore Feira da Ladra flea market. The Chiado area serves the city's best traditional Portuguese food. No meal is complete without some famous pastéis de nata!
Getting to the city centre is only a metro or bus ride from Lisbon Portela Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel, a friendly guesthouse or a cosy apartment, Booking.com has plenty of accommodations for your holiday in Lisbon.

We spent 5 full days in Lisbon and still didn’t see everything we wanted to see. It’s a great place for wandering, having coffee and pastries in a sidewalk cafe and people watching. A highlight was a day trip to Sintra. We also took a food tour which was a good introduction to Portuguese cuisine and culture well as a tour of the neighborhoods. We walked most everywhere but there are numerous trams and subway lines. Uber is commonly used as well.

We stayed for 2 nights and for us that was enough, we are not big city fans. We had a boat trip arranged through the accommodation that ended up just being the 2 of us on a yacht. We walked a lot of the places but some of the hills are steep. We did take a tuk-tuk ride but negotiated with the driver first and got 2.5 hrs for the price of 2. This was the best way of seeing the sights and getting information on places to visit, the driver stopped of at a couple of places to sightsee and waited for us then dropped us off near our accommodation. Tried to stay out of the tourist places and found it reasonable to eat and drink. We will go again as there as still some more things to see but again for only 2 days.
We had been warned about pickpockets so kept everything in zipped pockets and avoided the underground.
If you want cheap food and drinks try Kebab Ali's House, for the yacht ride look for Helcyon 1. We went to Canto do Poeta for the Fado night which included food and drinks.

It was interesting to see Lisbon for the first time.
It was interesting to see Lisbon for the first time. We did not realize how crowded it would be at this time of year. If we ever come back to Portugal, we would not plan to return to Lisbon because of the crowds.

People are very friendly, most drivers would happily recommend good sightseeing areas or good restaurants. The city is very dynamic and there are many activities that goes well into late night. Time out market was a great place to chill out, many food options all budget friendly but not skimming on quality. I have not had enough time to explore further due to it being a work trip but I am already contemplating returning for a proper holiday.

Lisbon is a beautiful and very alive city!
Lisbon is a beautiful and very alive city! it has a very special vibe. I was there 7 days and with what I saw, 6 months wouldn't be enough to visit everything I had in mind. Architecture is magnificent, there are lot of parks, museums, monuments and statues, restaurants and cafes. People are great, friendly, almost everyone speaks english, they are so relaxed and positive, and everyone is eager to help you. Night life in Bairro Alto is something you must see. Bolt app is the best for transportation and if you choose them, know that they have a different pick-up place at the airport, so you should ask airport staff of the policemen for instructions to find them. Near Lisbon are great tourist attractions like Sintra, Cascais and Estoril, that are definitely worth a visit. If you're planning to visit Castel de Pena and its park in Sintra, which are magnificent, you should leave the whole day for that. The best way to see the most of Lisbon is definitely by a motorcycle. The best pasteis de nata are, by my opinion, at Paul in Rua Augusta. The cheapest drinks are at Shorty's bar in Travessa da Cara. Sunset at Cabo da Roca (some 40km from Lisbon) is really special, but since Lisbon is a city of 7 hills, you can experience something similar at one of many miradouros across town. We preferred Miradouro da Graça.

Lisbon is great with friends or loved ones.
Lisbon is great with friends or loved ones. The food is fantastic, and there is a great wine and snacking culture. I thoroughly enjoyed the sightseeing and walking around the city and felt completely safe. I'd highly recommend Palacio Dogrillio they had great experiential dining, Ajitama had some amazing Ramen, Rocco's decor was so beautiful, it matched the food experience and Bairro do Avillez had some food gastronomy.
Perfect location for the night life in Lisbon. Beautiful new hotel. Don’t be fooled by the old Google Street View images. This old office building was completely renovated and converted into a hotel with a great restaurant and bar. For a 5 Star hotel, the price was unbeatable. Breakfast was exceptionally good and the entire staff were very friendly and helpful with booking taxis and passenger vans for our group. I cannot say enough good things about our stay and will definitely book this property the next time I’m in Lisbon.
Good value for your money-stay in Lisbon if you're looking for something a little bit better than a regular hotel. Everything was clean and all contact with staff went smoothly.
The best part, however, was the free shuttle service from the hotel to the city centre (semi-flexible on exact location). The driver, Raphael (might not be correctly spelled), was the perfect man for the job, and could answer questions on what to do in Lisbon and give fun facts and information about the city overall. Definitely worth a ride!
Fantastic location - although I was in Lisbon for work, I still had tourist inclinations. The hotel could not be better placed for access to everything in the area a tourist would demand. I paid a little extra for an upgrade and it was worth every penny. The very quiet room had an “office” area and a fantastic shower in the bathroom. There wasn’t much to see through the windows, but I was there to walk around.
One of the best breakfasts ever. More a boutique hotel with some facilities, but a wonderful stay.
Things you see online tend to be different when you come in person, but this was not the case with Exe Saldanha. Everything you see online is the same you will see when you check in. The hotel is very clean and the staff is polite and helpful. The location is probably the best possible especially if you are coming from the airport. The red metro line takes you all the way to the hotel and the remaining 3 lines intersect also there - so every part of Lisbon is a few minutes away.
One of the best hotels I visited in Europe.
Very friendly staff, the lady who greeted me late at night at my arrival gave me a quiet room just like I asked, with a view away from the main street.
Breakfast is very good and inclusive, from omelette with bacon to everything you could think of. Breakfast schedule is until 10:30 AM so great even if you are not a morning person.
A 10 minute car ride from the airport and 3 short metro stops away from the city centre.
Nice spacious rooms. Bit outside of the city centre, but with the metro very close this is a perfect location for a Lisbon city trip. Comfortable beds.
No sound from outside. Which surprised me, as it's a busy street and aircraft fly really low over the hotel.
Easy reachable from the airport. I used the metro, which in hindsight was not even the best solution. Metro takes about 40 minutes, where the bus would take only 15.
My stay at Jardim da Lapa was one of the best hotel experience i’ve had, the boutique hotel has a unique character in one of the most beautiful and quiet neighborhoods in Lisbon.
What i loved the most about the place: the attention to detail, the most friendly staff, the atmosphere, the pool, the breakfast.
It is a perfect place for a solo traveller, a couple and also a family!
I will be back for sure :)
- Hotel EXE Liberdade is in Lisbon's lively center, offering modern comfort and easy access.
- The stay was satisfying, best generally comfy, plus for central heating.
- The hotel's central location is perfect for discovering Lisbon's cultural and historical richness.
- Rooms are modern, well-furnished, and equipped with all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.
- Quiet rooms, kind staff.
Honestly this is one of the best places I've ever stayed at. Everything was brilliant. Location was amazing too, loved the avenue nearby and close to centre, metro, train station. The apartment had everything we could wish for, comfy beds and extremely quiet. If we ever visit Lisbon again we'll be staying here. Staff were extremely helpful. It's part of a 5 star hotel so the service was top level.
Absolutely best hostel ever. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. They go above and beyond to make sure you have the best time in hostel, in Lisbon and in Portugal.
They have dinner Events, pub crawl, fado, etc. They also gave us a guide for beaches on the West Coast. They als kept some of my stuff and I picked them up 2 weeks later when I returned to Lisbon, this was a huge help.
Everything went well. The hotel, accommodation and the staff were superb. I travel a few times a year and usually stay at the best 5 stars hotels. The stay at this one greatly exceeded my expectation. This was our first trip to Lisbon, Portugal and I have to say that my wife and I had a great stay. We do plan to visit Portugal again and do plan to stay at Lapa Palace hotel again.
Beautiful hotel in a great location - walking distance to everything! The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our welcome gift in the room when we arrived. We also really enjoyed being able to go to the rooftop bar, which was closed on the day we were there, except for hotel guests. One of the best views we had while in Lisbon!
Great location right in Lisbon City center, close to major sites and restaurants. The buffet breakfast was one of the best we’ve experienced, you get everything: breads, pastries, cakes, yogurt and fruit, juices, specialty coffee, charcuterie, cheese. The staff is amazing, hotel is very clean.
This is my #1 hotel in Lisbon! It has the best location you can think of... The staff is really exceptional, and this makes a huge difference in your overall experience at the hotel. It also reflects the warmth, the friendliness, the beauty of the city, itself.
5 star service throughout and you’re treat like a VIP. One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in and can not fault the service of every single member we encountered. Hotel itself is beautiful with an amazing selection for breakfast.
Super location, modern boutique style, great staff. Excellent hotel to experience the Lisbon scene. Also, the breakfast was top notch. We stayed 3 days on arrival to Portugal and another day before departure. Worked out great.
Very clean, good facilities, excellent breakfast homemade and with very friendly staff. I could surely say it is a 4 or 5 star hotel without any doubt. I would come here for sure for a next stay in Lisbon.
During past years I have stayed in many hotels in Lisbon including 5 star, and this one is the best for me. Great location, very modern and clean, reasonable price. Coming back in a few days)
