Just had evening meal. Pizza ok, but not a lot of food choices that weren’t carb heavy
A 7-minute walk from the town, High Tor Hotel in Matlock offers boutique-style accommodation within 5 minutes’ drive of the Peak District National Park.
Rich in original character and traditional charm, this cosy 19th-century country inn offers good beers, great-value food and comfortable en suite rooms in the converted former stable block.

The location gave us the opportunity to get some good exercise walking into Matlock centre. The breakfast was great - it set us up nicely for the day.
However, the stand out for us was the staff. They are absolutely brilliant. We were warmly welcomed and that welcome remained throughout our stay.
We’ve stayed in many places over the years - but this is probably the best we’ve ever had.
Situated in Matlock in the Derbyshire region, Peveril Cottage - Darwin Lake Holiday Village features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking.

Matlock is lovely, a few shops and good selection of bars and restaurants. We found a good walk along the cliff top and into Matlock Bath. Matlock Bath is very busy, buzzing with motor bikers, great atmosphere, a couple of pubs and a lot of Fish and Chip shops!!

Lovely riverside walks. Heights of Abraham worth a visit.
Lovely riverside walks. Heights of Abraham worth a visit. Can get busy there in summer. Limited food outlets in Matlock Bath, mostly fish and chips. Lots of motorbikes when the weather is good so traffic held up. Easily accessible by train from Derby and bus from Sheffield only cost £2.00

Matlock Bath has 24 fish & chip shops (!!!), a couple of traditional pubs and an excellent Indian restaurant, The Balti.
For fine dining, go to Stones in Matlock itself. Fabulous!
Traffic is awful at weekends and especially Bank Holidays.
Cromford Mill is a must visit (with the volunteer tour guide).
Famous bookshop and great Chocolate Shop also in Cromford.

Unfortunately we were here for a family funeral.
Unfortunately we were here for a family funeral. We have been to Matlock and the surrounding area before and would certainly stay at this accommodation again. It was very central. This is an ideal location to travel around and is very cost effective.

Matlock Bath is such a beautiful place , the views, the walks, and a lovely restaurant called The Seafood Cave and Grill. The food here was omg so fresh and tasty! Would definitely recommend this restaurant, not cheap but worth a visit. Some of the other local pubs ran out of food on a Saturday afternoon which baffled us to be honest? Lots of fish and chips available which seem to appeal to motorcycles. The walks are beautiful and the heights of Abraham are well worth a visit.
The room was exactly as pictured, it could do with a slightly bigger sofa but other than that, it was superb for a 3* hotel.
Continental breakfast was basic and adequate, exactly what I expected.
Staff were extremely helpful, I needed a cork screw and iron, these were provided then and there. Friendly and generally just facilitated our stay fantastically.
I recently stayed at a 4* hotel and this one was far better than that.
Will be staying again if in the area.
Very close to both Matlock and Matlock Bath.
Old, interesting and quite quirky Hotel in a great location. Our room on the top floor was spacious with a large comfortable bed. It also had a pleasant view, was well equipped and being high surprisingly free of road noise. Breakfast choices were pre ordered, served hot, extremely tasty and good ingredients. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful, the attraction discount voucher and 4pm -11am parking pass were very useful. Would happily stay again if returning to Matlock Bath.
Such a great setting for a hotel and location was great for going into Gulliver's Kingdom itself. A few hills that require actual hiking to get up and down them however, worth it when Matlock Bath is down at the bottom (you can also leave in car and return if you can't be bothered with walking). Entertainment was on for the kids in the little clubhouse which was a bonus, the host had heaps of energy and did well keeping everyone engaged.
The location gave us amazing views over the Derbyshire dales.
Was aware it was up a hill, but my goodness it was a long steep hill!! But car was used to go back and forth to the town centre. It was worth it for the views we were rewarded with.
The owners are lucky to have ellie as a neighbour as she was very helpful in giving us info as to the area and places to eat. Also lovely chatty person.
Great location. It is a short walk down the road to the town and local restaurants/hotels. The station is even closer if you want to go to Matlock Bath to experience the Heights of Abraham or Cromford for the Mill complex. Arrive by train or bus to Matlock Bath and the cable car is discounted. This is a quiet location with welcoming hosts who provide a marvellous breakfast to order.
The Hotel is in an ideal location to walk into Matlock Bath and is also a comfortable walk to The Heights of Abraham, The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We had our anniversary meal in the hotel and the standard of the food and service was excellent!
The outdoor Pool looked great and was popular but not too busy!
Brilliant location close to Matlock and Matlock Baths - and the hotel itself is surrounded by trees and nature so it's in a lovely spot set back from the road. The staff were lovely, they were very welcoming and helpful and even provided platers for our take away which we had for dinner (as we arrived late) which we really appreciated
We had a four night stay at Matlock Spa. Lovely, new, well equipped apartment. Easy walking distance into town for restaurants in the evening - Thailand Number 1, very highly recommended. Sainsburys is practically on the doorstep. Perfect base for exploring the Peak District. Very quiet at night, we slept really well.
The location of the hotel was amazing, we could walk to nearby attractions. Our room was so charming and comfortable. It was a perfect getaway even in winter. Very cozy and warm. Breakfast was delicious and had many options to choose from. The parking was an added bonus. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
The rooms were beautiful, very well furnished and decorated.
The breakfast was exceptional, everything was tasty, hot and cooked to perfection.
The owners were amazing, nothing was too much trouble.
The location was perfect, in the centre of Matlock Bath. A couple of minutes walk to the railway station.
A lovely cottage in a very nice part of Matlock.
It was quiet and very comfortable. Felt very homely.
Close to the cottage are a couple of bars, a pizza shop (weekends), a corner shop and even a fish and chip shop not too far away.
Jo was welcoming, helpful and communicative (Thank you!)
Location ideal to explore Matlock Bath and the surrounding Derbyshire Dales. I was in the area for a half marathon and the hotel was ideally located for that event. Bed was very comfortable with a choice of pillows to suit. The breakfast was beautifully prepared and served fresh to order
We had the kingside room which had a four poster bed with amazing views of the matlock castle. The bathroom was also very nice and very big with a walk in shower. The food in the hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful and there was a wide range of local ales for sale.
Situated between Matlock and Matlock Bath and central for visiting the Derbyshire dales. Within a short walking distance from Matlock bath and it's facilities. Great if your a walker, with walks from door. Clean and comfortable. Helpful and friendly hosts, and a great breakfast.
The property is conveniently located in central Matlock at the top of a road with many bars and restaurants. It was clean and spacious enough for a short stay for a couple.
Very relaxed and friendly. Spacious bedroom with nice view. Good sized bathroom.
Good value for money restaurant.
PS 3 pin socket beside window wouldn’t accept plug.
