A wonderful location by the sea. The sound of the waves crashing day & night. Plenty of space for two.

Perfect for someone that likes a small village away from the busy tourist centers.
Great location for traveling to La Graciosa (I recommend renting a bike).
With a car you find lovely small locations with access to "small beaches".

Opening hours of some restaurants was bit limited, but one is open until 2200 daily and I ate there 3 times. Supermarket is open to around 2100. This area of Lanzarote is beautiful, rugged & there are many places to visit close by. Many great walks you can do. Orzola ferry is convenient. Orzola is a very small place with basic amenities. That is its charm. I love it.

Good: ideal for ferry trip to Graciosa.
Good: ideal for ferry trip to Graciosa. Super quiet & feels safe. You can away from hordes of Brits abroad. Low-key quiet tourism. Go here if you MUST avoid crowds & want to go to Graciosa.
Bad: maybe too quiet for many. Not the most scenic either. Not much happening, especially on a Monday night (only 1 restaurant was open). Only 1 shop & I hate to say that the staff in it were variable in friendliness & helpfulness.

I think Orzola is a great place, although probably understated. We made a conscious choice not to go to any of the resorts of south Lanzarote and we do not regret it a bit. We travelled (in early June) with a 3 and 4-year old and we all had fun, we loved the laid back feel. Orzola is a good base to explore the centre and north of Lanzarote (and obviously La Graciosa) but even going to Timanfaya was absolutely fine in terms of driving around.
A restaurant in Orzola that I remember well and would recommend is the 'Mirador El Roque' but we have not been disappointed by others.

Orzola is a sleepy fishing village on the north coast of Lanzarote. It is best known as the gateway to Isla Graciosa,a short ferry ride away.
Few Tourists stay here as most just pass through on daytrips to Graciosa.
Consequently there are few Tourist facilities here which is part of it's charm as it is the perfect antidote to a Canarian Resort.
There is a little Supermarket on the edge of Town and only a couple of restaurants open in the evening and they close at 10pm.There are lovely white sandy dramatic looking beaches on the coast east of Orzola and the attractive town of Haria and the stunning Mirador del Rio are not far but difficult to reach without your own transport.
Most focus is on Ferries to Graciosa which is a must-do and one of those end of the world places.Graciosa might be a more interesting place to stay.Orzola seemed very wintery in December with little to do in the cold weather.

If you like a quiet stay in small fisher towns, nice beaches, that is exactly what you get. The restaurants are excelent and the beacges are quiet and for hiking also a good starting point. Only two things are, that this small town jist has a very limited supermarket and the bus connection is not great. So I would recommend to have a rental car or use taxis. Otherwise it is great for relaxation and nature enthousiasts.
