Good city hotel when visiting Higuey. The beds were comfortable and the room had the comfort it needed. It has everything you need during a citytrip. Also the location was right behind the Basilica.

The central location was perfect--in the midst of the city! It is so close to the parks and the Basílica Virgen de la Altagracia. Food in the Dominican Republic is always inexpensive. The service at La Monarca is amazing. I love 💓 the receptionist, Albani! The receptionists were lovely. The service staff is stupendous. The owners, Mary and Daniel, stop by and greet you like an honored guest. I truly felt at home. I didn't want to go home.

The location is eleven minutos from Playa Macao, the best beach to enjoy the ultimate Dominican experience. On top of that the small cottage is partially made of Palma Real, an authentic farm home from Quisqueya Bella. The entire family serve as hosts. You are not a turist; you are family to them. That is a blessing!

Sam, the manager and one of the executive chefs, went above and beyond to ensure that my dad and I felt truly at home during our stay in Punta Cana/DR. Sam took the initiative to arrange memorable excursions for us multiple times throughout the trip (coordinating pick-up times and locations, packing breakfasts/snacks before leaving) and upon learning of my passion for cooking, Sam generously offered to provide me with a personal cooking lesson, showcasing a level of hospitality that exceeded all expectations.
Throughout our stay, Sam remained effortlessly accessible through WhatsApp, ensuring that our needs were met promptly and seamlessly. His unwavering dedication to client satisfaction and willingness to go the extra mile set this resort apart from others. Sam's personalized attention and genuine commitment made our experience exceptional, and we are grateful for the outstanding service he provided.

We visited Boca de Yuma and had the most delicious local fish for lunch at La Bahia restaurant. We highly recommend it. We also visited the Basilica de Higuey and took a stroll in town. But the best part of our trip was the stay at Campito Loving. The hospitality from Nicole, Mechy and the rest of the staff was superb. The food (breakfast was included and we also enjoyed a couple of lunches and dinners) was delicious! Quite a treat. This is a place to return in future trips to Santo Domingo.

Higuey is inland Dominican Republic, do not expect much English! Take your google translator! Do not rent a car or drive here unless you have your life insurance paid up, some of the worst drivers I’ve ever seen and I have been to a lot of countries. We felt safe the whole time and people are friendly, ate at local spots and cafes, ask your taxi driver for recommendations. Also taxis are cheap, ours became our driver for 3 days and always told us the price in advance and will wait for you for a few dollars more if you need him to. Your hotel can find a good one for you.
If you can handle cultural shopping, go for it in town. Don’t forget to get a fresh coconut water, they are huge for about $1.00
