Quite central location to explore both Maramures and Rodnei mountains. For Rodnei, use old lift in Borsa - easiest way to get close to its ridge. But be aware that one day trips in mountains are demanding - downhill pathways could be really steep and demanding.

Good starting point for treks in the mountains above Borsa and neighbor villages. Convenient room and perfect shower and toilet (optimal water pressure). Our hosts, Julian and his joyful family, made us feel as we were at home, including free coffee (great Espresso machine). julian had helpful tips for activities in the area. Also the hotel was very well situated, only 5 min drive from the railway. As a bonus we got some really cool hiking tips and ideas from our host which filled the day just right.
