Super nice staff. Mr Manuel, father of the manger made me a coffee in the evening when I arrived super tired and he also dropped me next day with the car back on the Camino. Super kind person with a good would. Mujas Gracias.

This is a popular resort with Portuguese families who make up the huge majority of visitors here - not many Brits and not much English spoken. Big clean beaches - sea very cold even in July, Huge activity on the beach - these people play Basketball and Beach Volleyball all day and all night! Vast range of restaurants and other bars etc, and all very reasonably priced - did not feel we were paying the same prices we were paying in Porto itself.

Great beaches
Unattractive modern town with nice historic plaza but too many nondescript high rise blocks for my taste.
Inexpensive good value restaurants offering great traditional portuguese dishes

Povoa is a great city.
Povoa is a great city. The beach is wonderful, the people are great, and there is plenty to do within the immediate area (Povoa and Vila do Conde). Povoa is also very close to Porto, Braga, Viana do Castelo, and a host of other cool places. The beach is clean and nice.

If you would like to make a fantastic holiday in a local area near Porto. I would suggest this place. This area just 20 minutes from the Airport and the beach is beautiful. I felt the local shops and restaurants aren't expensive at all.

Povoa De Varzim is a bustling little seaside town with everything you could want as a visitor. Mostly popular with Portuguese so English visitors that like home from home (menus in english etc) might wish to think carefully but otherwise I would definitely return. Safe, clean and easily accessible by car or rail.

Well, the owner is staff are really nice people (btw, hotel is a family business). I expected really small room (15 m2, as said on Booking), but got a whole fully functional kitchen in addition, and the room itself was mostly taken by a huge bed - can't complain! Bathroom was really nice too. Historic touches in the room and bathroom.
There is more, but I will not tell you everything so you could get a nice surprise!
Everything was excellent. Breakfast was fantastic, good choice of hot and cold foods. The room was spotlessly cleaned everyday. The balcony view of the garden was lovely. Closest beach, Fragosinha, was the best beach, 15 minute walk. Metro was a 30 minute walk but did not feel that long. 30 minute walk to the main strip. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Hotel management and staff were extremely friendly and went beyond ant expectations to be helpful. Manuel provided another group of guests and me a ride to dinner and his son also gave me a ride back to Camino trail the next morning after enjoying a good breakfast at the hotel.
I had an enjoyable and memorable experience at the Hotel Contriz
Very kindly I was allowed to check in early and was given a private bathroom when I paid for a room with a shared bathroom.
The room was clean and a really nice size and the hotel was well-located just metres away from the beach and in the centre of shops and restaurants.
Siglas & Ruinas is located in the center of town and close to the beach. Its a cosy and comfortable B and B with a very welcoming hostess. We only stayed one night but we hope to be back!
We went there for the spa bathtub, and it was excellent. The room was very spacey and clean, and the location is great. The receptionist spoke some English (not general in Portugal).
Sparkling clean hotel steps from the beach. Charming engaging staff. Good breakfast, spacious seating area, attentive food staff. Speedy efficient check in and check out.
Exceptional view on the plain and sea direction, a hotel from the 1920-30's.
Excellent reception by the chief receptionist who speaks French very (I am French )
Just cross the street and you are on the beach!
breakfast is not exceptional but is good, and the staff is helpfull and nice.
cost/value relation is very good
