The hotel facilites was ok. The room that we stayed had a clogged sink in the bathroom and leakage in the room’s sink, the hotel staff could solve only the clogged one. In general the hotel staff was relatively friendly, but not really prepared to solve our requests.

The monastery / cathedral was great.
The monastery / cathedral was great. And there was a great little flea market Sunday morning in the adjacent parking lot focused on antiques. I had dinner in an excellent restaurant across from my hotel, just behind the monastery and was really rather impressed. And of course Super Bock was available everywhere.

They let me leave my bike and luggage in the hotel so I could spend the afternoon sightseeing. The room was spacious and well equipped with a good bathroom. Best of all was the Aircon also heated. Due to COVID, breakfast was a bit packaged, but fresh and adequate. Great view of the monastery from the breakfast room. Cheap kebab shop almost next door, for those in a budget.

They take that extra step to make you feel welcome. For example, we arrived in late afternoon hungry and tired around 4pm. The staff offered to make us a meal. My husband and I ordered one of everything. It was the best meal we have had in Portugal. We were so impressed that we stayed additional day. Our host was also a tour guide. Very comfortable, close to Batalha Monastery, Fatima, Nazaré, Alcobaça, Leiria. Hosts very friendly. Lovely small garden in back, guests encouraged to enjoy and feed the animals (shelled corn provided) - chickens, ducks, hamsters, rabbit, goats, sheep, and pony that they let kids ride. The children fell in love with the little goat while feeding him milk and riding the horse. This house is just a 30 minute ride from the beach but located in an area for the culture castle lover. Also the caves where really nice to visit. Highly recommended!
