Mahebourg is not at all touristy.
Mahebourg is not at all touristy. You get A true taste of island life. The eateries are mainly visited by locals with the odd tourist. They're cheap & always delicious. I must recommend Chez Marilyn. Blue Bay is a short drive from town & well worth a visit! We stayed for 7 nights which was a few days too long, maybe 4 or 5 nights is enough.DawnUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
Mahbourg is charming.
Mahbourg is charming. I like city sounds and working people so I found it to be quite charming. Nearby restaurants were delicious and friendly and affordable. Transit is available to most destinations. The Monday market was very interesting. The people were delightful. We loved our stay.

We visited the resort from the UK in March for my Wife's...
We visited the resort from the UK in March for my Wife's 30th Birthday Celebration and honeymoon holiday. Just before the Covid-19 lockdown we were there. All the staff were super friendly and even helped me get special birthday balloons for my Wifes birthday which they searched the whole island for! Special thanks for Linda who was sooo soo caring in making sure we had a great time. Also thanks to all the other staff like Akshay and the rest who I cant remember all their names! My Wife was also surprised with dinner by the beach one evening which was lovely and romantic! She also enjoyed the Spa which was all complimentary as we were celebrating our marriage. Overall we had a great time even though the weather was not always the best and one day we had to stay in the hotel but there was many things to keep us entertained and the evening entertainment especially on Independence day was fantastic and great fun. Mahébourg is a nice place to stay only a few days or the visit the museum of history and the market, good places to eat also good supermarkets can be found. You can take to bus to almost every place on the Island. It's nearby the most beautifull places to snorkel around Pointe 'dEsny and Blue bay. Catamaran trips can be booked a Pointe Jerome. There's no beach at Mahébourg.

Its a less touristy part of Mauritius compared to the North/West and well worth visiting. Connie and Peary were so friendly throughout; sharing recommendations on things to do, restaurants, supermarkets,buses etc. which really made it easy to explore the area. Both my room and breakfast were good and exactly what I was expecting… hopefully I’ll be back staying again soon!

The staff was amazing, had great suggestions, helped us with recommendations, and transfer to the airport. Additionally, they helped me when I left my very sentimental piece of jewelry in the bathroom and checked out. They found it, kept it safe for me, and arranged shipping to my home address. I really appreciated the water dispensers in the corridors, you can get filtered, cold water without buying plastic bottles. It's also easy to park outside.
