From greeting to check out I felt this was a great friendly stay. The service in the rooms was consistent and clean. We stayed in room 2 by the smaller pool that allowed us to cool off on the small deck. They offer a wonderful shuttle to a beautiful beach and to Cascavelle mall which we enjoyed several times under the careful driving skills that was friendly. The young check in lady offered tours which we opted out of in favour of local contact by taking buses to Port Louis and also Baie du CAP which can do a La Morne which she assisted with where to catch and pricing. Be Careful walking as there are narrow shoulders . If you get off the bus it was easy to wave down your local bus that will have a conductor determine your cost depending on the length of your trip. Last but not least, the breakfast was varied daily but consistent in coffee, teas, cereals and yoghurt with bread and condiments. Order your eggs add your cheese and put some bacon( ham) or chicken sliced meat. Variations between chips, samosas, empanadas breaded vegetables and sweet rolls. Beautiful fresh apples bananas so sweet that when they offer crepes you have to have two…so my husband says. Topped of with freshly juiced orange juice. Wonderful service, wonderful staff and a wonderful way to start of unwinding prior to several intense business trips coming up. Don’t second guess yourselves because this is priced so well. It is easy to see why people stay a week and longer. On a note-They are doing renovations to keep up with the quality to which I speak of but there is plenty of time to miss the comings and going’s of the workers as it warms up get breakfast and get exploring. This stay was booked through booking. com which offered us a fabulous fare rate to and from the airport. We felt no need to rent a car. We used our little kitchen for salads and chicken that we purchased at Jumbo. Lots of dishes and cutlery. We used the fridge and made ice cubes. Water is drinkable &great wifi great place.

Flic and Flac has a great beach and lots of good restaurants. It is very lively, particularly on a Saturday and Sunday. The restaurants that we enjoyed were Chutneys, Sunset Garden, Mosaic and a Thai restaurant that was a little further out in Tamarin called Ousaporn. Lovely garden settings in both Sunset Gardens and Ousaporn. I recommend hiring a car. The Black River Gorge is stunning. The views of the gorge, waterfalls and to the bays are outstanding.

Being on the west coast of the island means that it isn't as...

Being on the west coast of the island means that it isn't as windy as the east coast or as wet i.e. rainy. The beach is sheltered by a coral reef; as are many of the beaches on Mauritius but there are also resident pods of bottlenose and spinner dolphins off of the west coast of the island. The boat trips to swim with dolphins and also visit the island on the SW coast of Mauritius go from Flic-en-Flac beach so cost a lot less than from other parts of the island - worth visiting more than one tour operator to get the best price. Flic-en-Flac is not too far from the airport and being about half way up it is easy to get to most parts of the island in a day to see things. Lots of restaurants to choose from too.

There are many wonderful places to dine around Flic en Flac...

There are many wonderful places to dine around Flic en Flac with restaurants to cater to everyone's tastes. There is a big supermarket, some bars and on weekends the place is livelier with music and sega shows. (not to be missed) The beach is clean and the lagoon is clear and safe to swim. Sand is clean and there are Filao trees to keep you in the shade. The water is warm throughout the day. There is a big shopping mall 10 mins away where you have modern shops, bowling alley, clubs, food places including Mcdonalds and KFC. The local cuisine is so good so we tried to eat local whenever possible. We went to Grand Baie which is very nice too but we preferred the charm of Flic en Flac and Flic en Flac was more relaxing.

I loved the balcony and sea view. The table was perfect for me to work and look at the view. Sunset was amazing, you have the perfect place. Inside is basic and functional. Beds are standard Mauritius and rock hard. There is a nice Indian restaurant to the left and a few more just down the road with walking distance. The beach lives up to its reputation and it was one of our favourites. This was so far the vest value for money apartment we have stayed in.

We stayed at Our Island Home for 5 nights on arrival in Mauritius. We found the apartment to be very comfortable. Rodney was welcoming and helpful. Kids loved the small terrace onto the grass and the pool and we had it to ourselves most of the time. We had no issues with noise. The flat really is only 5 mins to the beach even with kids in tow. Great value for money. Felt like we were borrowing a friend's holiday house, a great base for exploring.

The room was basic but comfy. The sheets were in great condition, the room spacious and the staff really friendly. It would have been nice if they had some water for sale since it's not considered exactly safe to drink in Mauritius, because after arriving from a very long trip the last thing you wanna do is go get things at a store. Besides that, it was a good place for a night.

The hotel and the surroundings are beautiful. Very stylishly decorated starting from the reception area. The beach is fabulous with its shallow and clear water. I liked that there were not entertainment music that echos over the resort until late in the evening. There was a music in Buddha bar where people could enjoy.
