Montecatini Terme has been known for centuries as one of the most famous spa towns in Italy. Located in the Tuscan province of Pistoia, the town started the process of building baths to contain the thermal waters at the foot of the Montecatini hill as early as in 1530.
The famous baths of Tettuccio, Bagno Regio and Terme Leopoldine were built in the 1770’s, during the rule of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold of Habsburg-Lorraine. It was only at the beginning of the 20th century and after several changes of names that it started to gain fame as a popular resort.
New baths and spa hotels were built at Montecatini’s foothill, growing the quality of the services, and changing the conceptual approach. The baths were joined by Art Nouveau buildings, as well as a casino, theatres, restaurants and nightclubs. Famous intellectuals and artists of the time like Giuseppe Verdi and Luigi Pirandello could often be seen around.
It can be reached though both the Central and the Monsummano railway stations. Florence Airport is 47 km away, while Pisa Airport is 65 km away. Find the accommodation that best suits your needs on Booking.com and enjoy a sothing hooliday in Montecatini Terme.

Was a great place to spend a month.
Was a great place to spend a month. Centrally located between Pisa and Florence. Felt safe and homey. Train station very close to property where we stayed. Not much bus service though. Town is charming. Lots of good restaurants, a nice park, monorail up to Montecatini Alto for beautiful views. If you are looking for a spa town though, even though it is listed as a UNESCO Spa town, there was only one open for bathing and it was nothing special which was not what we expected. Groceries very inexpensive compared to US prices. Weather was really nice in May, 70's to low 80's and low humidity and lots of sunshine. Easy to book tours to more touristy towns (Milan, Florence, San Gimigiano, Pisa, Cinque Terre etc.) or take the train.

It has 2 railway stations, Centrale and Therme.
It has 2 railway stations, Centrale and Therme. Centrale close to the main town centre, upmarket shops as well as many restaurants mostly Italian, but other food types as well. There are many hotels of all types, but parts of the town look a little run down. A daily permanent market in Via Pietro Grocco, is nice to wander through, although out of season not all open. At the northern area, there is the Funicular to Montecatini Alto. A lovely village perch on top of the hill, boasting a number of restaurants in the market square, and historic hill fort and parish church. If you’re using the train to get to Montecatini, recommend that the Trenitalia app is downloaded to see current train arrivals and departures and most importantly, platform numbers. Use this in conjunction with their website. Train to Pisa s Rossore, just 10 mins from Leaning Tower monuments. A trip to Cinque Terre will pick up from Montecatini Therme station.

Nice place, but our main destinations were Florence and Cinque Terre. There are good train connections.
We made some short walk tour in park and went to Montecatini Alto by "Funicolare"-cable-operated carriages dating from 1898.

We used Montecatini as a base to explore the rest of this Tuscany area. We spent a few days exploring Montecatini and then took a train to visit the other cities. It is easy to travel to Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Pistoia, as they are all on the same direct railway line.
The funicular to Montecatini Alto makes for a good half day excursion.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from offering everything from basic pizzas to high quality steak meals. You can select a meal to suit your taste and budget.
There is a large and quiet park where you can walk or just sit in the shade of the trees.

I had the pleasure of visiting Montecatini Terme recently, and I must say it was an incredible experience. The town's natural beauty and charming atmosphere left me enchanted. The healing thermal waters and the rejuvenating spa treatments provided a perfect opportunity for relaxation and wellness. The parks and gardens were simply breathtaking, offering serene spots to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. The local cuisine was a delight, with an array of delicious Tuscan specialties to savor. The hospitality of the people was remarkable, making me feel welcomed and cared for throughout my visit. Montecatini Terme is truly a hidden gem that exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful and revitalizing getaway.

This is a perfect apartment for family, ideal location in quite cul-de-sac a bit far away from town noise, there is a shop and bar and restaurant behind a corner, you will need to walk obviously to the funicular or termes or other restaurants but this is going to be a nice walk in nice place. Everything is reachable in 10-15 minutes walking. Price is very reasonable, seems to be a good deal especially if you was in Florence before Montecatini Terme. You can park your car on the street, plenty of spaces and free of charge.
A grand, old, typical Italian hotel close to the park and the town centre. The staff were very friendly, particularly the waiting staff in the restaurant. Our room was large with a big modern bathroom & we had a huge terrace with great views (room 370). The evening meal was good in the restaurant. Breakfast was simple, Italian style, but we are used to that. It was very close to the start of Terme parkrun which was one of the main reasons we visited the town. The pool was quite small but good for a dip on a hot day.
Location was great 👍 ..Big all you can eat breakfast. Eggs , bacon , meats, cheeses, breads, sweet breads, fruits, coffee, juices, water..They also have dinner very good a new menu every day. Staff was very friendly and helpful and Sarah helped us with more local places to visit..Front desk all of them were nice and helped us with what ever we needed. Lucca was great. Nice young lady helped us alot.. her name I can't remember but she was sweet. ..
Great budget hotel...
It’s in an amazing location, near theatres and the train station. Very clean facility, the breakfast is delicious with genuine Italian taste. All the staff are very polite and attentive to details. A special thank you to Antonio, the hotel night manager who was always polite and courteous with me, and Sara who went above and beyond to guide me and provide me with all the support to have a marvellous stay in the hotel and an unforgettable experience in Montecatini.
Recently renovated, super beautiful hotel, fresh, spacious, clean . Close to Montecatini Terme #1 attraction- the Terme. Room was spacious and super clean, bed comfortable with luxurious bed sheets. beautifully decorated bathroom with luxurious toiletries. Super delicious breakfast with best foods Tuscany can offer. All in one, outstanding property that made my stay enjoyable and so pleasant. Will definitely stay here again.
Perfect location as a Hotel, walking distance from the centar of Montecatini terme, and I recommend this small city for accommodation for everybody interested in exploring Toscana.
The staff very pleasant and helpfull, the brekfast excelant, the rooms authentical style, but extremely clean and very comfortable. And at the end the swimming pool was best of the best. We were really enjoying this hotel!!!
Stayed 11 nights at the hotel and used it as a base to explore Tuscany. Very pleased with the bedroom servicing ladies, kept room and bathroom spotlessly clean. I would like to make a special mention for the lady that worked behind the bar in the afternoons, i think her name was julie, she is an assett to the hotel, a lovely warm funny lady, and nothing wasvtoo much trouble for her.
The stay was just amazing! The villa located on top of the mountain, with the view to Montecatini-Terme. The Villa remains very well status and tasteful decorated. Luca is the best host ever with his hospitality. The breakfast with various choice and delicious ! We will definitely go back to him when we visit Montecatini
Fantastic location in Montecatini, 5 blocks from the train station and two from the main street.
Great hotel and spa, clean rooms, nice bathroom and AC.
An amazing view from the restaurant, buffet breakfast included and the staff brings it directly to your table so you don’t have to leave your group and just relax.
Beautiful hotel in a tranquil area with the most amazing staff. The best massage of my life after driving 10 days in Italy. Francesco got the knots out. The BEST massage I have ever had. Roberta gave a marvelous facial. Super fun gal who obviously loves her job and is a master of making people happy.
A very large room with a nice bathroom and shower. The cheapest room we have booked and easily the biggest. A very nice hotel with a very good breakfast and great staff. If we come back we would definitely stay here again. Such good value for money
We chosed this hotel because we searched for the Tuscany vibe. We felt italians all the days we stayed there. The owner reminded us of Carlo Goldoni and Paganini. The entrance hall is fabulous.
The apartment had airconditioning
Good and spacious apartment, plenty of room
