Great service, good clean rooms with good shower and comfortable bed. We found it to be in a good location, handy to Edinburgh without being too close. Very good and relatively close to the Dalkeith township, supermarket and garden centre next door with bus stop out the front. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend the Melville Inn to anyone wishing to stay within easy reach of Edinburgh.A good restaurant is adjacent to the Inn.

Nothing. The room was dirty, sheets were stained, the window wouldn't close and the toilet was leaking on to the bathroom floor. Definitely wouldn't advise for anyone with asthma, the bathroom ceiling was absolutely covered in mould.

The Castle, rooms, and decorations were all 1st class. The grounds were exceptional. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They expressed how much they enjoyed working there. For my wife, her stay there was a dream come true.
