Location on the side of the Great Ouse was lovely. Cruisers and narrowboats right outside your window. Several places to eat literally next door in both directions.
Staff were great and Lily who handles your calls and queries was top notch. Real customer service and much appreciated.

The bed was comfortable although not made properly. The canal looked nice but bushes spoilt the view we should have had .

We spent 2 nights on Puzzle in November - not the best time to stay on a narrowboat in England but the brilliant central heating made it totally possible. It was very cosy and had absolutely everything we needed. If you're looking for something unique and bespoke, this is definitely the place for you. Martin was an excellent host, meeting us and allowing us to be flexible in checking in and out. There were a few little extras waiting for us on board which were much appreciated plus tea/coffee and condiments etc. For our second night, we bought food from the Tesco superstore (5 minutes walk away) and cooked in. It's a shame the weather was too chilly to sit outside on the deck for drinks or breakfast or to open the side hatches but we'll just have to come again when it's warmer! Ely is a great place and I highly recommend the cathedral tour and Octagon Tower tour.

Ely is a wonderful small town for a few days stay - along the river is excellent on a fine day and a nice pub to have a drink and watch the world go by. Ely Cathedral was magnificent - we have visited many across UK and this is certainly one of the best - Stained Glass exhibition is also worth a visit. Cromwells House and Ely Museum worth a visit if you have time. Ely Cathedral has the Armoury Cafe which we would recommended for lunch. For dinner: The Lamb was excellent with wonderful food at a fair price.

Stayed at a hotel 10 minutes walk into Ely, the weather was extremely windy but we enjoyed the walk. We found quite a few quirly shops plus alll the usual high street shops, a few cafes and few places pto have a tea or coffee. We were surprised that the local carparks were free … what a bonus.
We walked around the cathedral and were amazed at the beauty of this truly amazing stricture.
We can recommend the Minster Arms for an evening meal, where they offer good food and ample servings.
We only stayed for a day and night but there will definately be another return visit to Ely

We loved the cathedral, which was at its most mystical when we visited in December. We attended two fantastic events in the cathedral during our stay – but needed a mulled wine afterwards to warm us up!
Another high point was the Farmers' market, which had all sorts of tempting foodstuffs on offer.

Loved the cathedral and the purpose of the visit was to see a performance of Dickens “A Christmas Carol” in the evening at the cathedral. A lovely way to start Christmas. A very good production of professional actors. Also went to the market and High Street and Oliver Cromwell’s house. All very interesting and enjoyable. Great pubs, good beer and food within walking distance.
Perfect location; a short stroll into town and yet so peaceful. Lovely garden which must be such a bonus in warmer weather. The house has character.
Breakfast was well cooked and nothing was too much trouble. Clean room with comfy beds and pillows. Decent supply of tea and coffee in the room. There wasn't any decaf for night time drink but we didn't asked and I am sure if we had it would have been provided. There was a hairdryer and iron , if you needed it.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Honestly, do yourself a favour and try the pub across the road that doubles up as a hotel. Our trip was very short notice and we booked Ely GH the day before, but we were disappointed to find that double rooms are priced way cheaper at the Pub and they also do a fantastic Sunday roast. I always read reviews before booking but let my guard down here, never again. It was probably one of the worse places I have ever stayed in my life and I’m not young.
BTW, I gave £110, where is my change?
The Boathouse is maintained immaculately and it even has a large private garden as a bonus. The hosts provide all essentials including a bottle of milk, tea/coffee, jams, microwave, iron etc. The property is larger than the photographs portray and is stylishly presented providing for a relaxing and homely stay. A car is essential as the property is in a countryside location. I would definitely recommend this property especially if you are looking for somewhere to relax in peace and quiet.
Kind of old-fashioned typical small town English hotel. Lots of character and very helpful staff but maybe in need of some modernisation, particularly with the bathrooms. But for a short stay in town then this place does the job. Perhaps a little overpriced for the quality of the rooms but definitely happy to stay here.
Lovely big garden, very friendly and welcoming staff, great breakfast. Very charming place, the opposite of modern soulless chain hotels. I was travelling alone with my very active two year old and whilst we were obviously decades younger than the average guests they couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful.
Our family of 5 had two apartments, and they were beautiful and perfect for our two night stay in Ely! The host left snack baskets & milk in the fridge for us, which was very nice. The kitchen had everything we needed! USB chargers were great. The location is fabulous.
Fantastic breakfast, delicious fruit and pastries, lovely cooked breakfast very tasty. Lovely coffee Nespresso machine. Lovely staff very attentive. Hotel was only minutes away from Ely centre but well away from any noise from Traffic. Beautiful gardens and house.
Great alternative to a hotel, especially if you want to self-cater. The location in the centre of Ely is also good if that is what you need, but also close to a public car park if you need to do business in the area and are there with a car.
The staff were incredible, they are supportive and helpful. Very cheerful and willing to assist. The location of the hotel was good for us as we wanted to be away from the city. Ely is a short train ride from Cambridge.
In the centre of Ely close to cathedral market and other attractions . The hotel had access to the car park and you didn’t need to pay. The room was plenty big enough and had all we needed . Food very good.
Superb room, friendly welcome, lovely and quiet at night, delicious breakfast with loads of choice, and excellent location in the city Centre with free parking
Everything was so nice and the property was incredible. Lovely views of the cathedral. It was more than we expected for the same cost as a lesser hotel!
