The city lost its German values. I have never seen such a dirty city, cigarette butts and trash everywhere. Not safe to walk in the centre during night. The Market square offer only kebab shops. I had my dinner at the Kurfürst Wirtshaus am Markt, one of the six German restaurant that offered traditional, good quality food. Next time I will avoid... this fallen city.

I came at the wrong time of year, cold and wet. None the less if you're dressed right there is a lot to see. Be adventurous and explore by getting a day ticket (public transportation) to take you all over Mannheim.

We went to see a lot of Christmas Markets and the Novum hotel is round the corner from the train station and we found it easy to travel to all our destinations , plus visiting interesting places in Mannheim , Our only problem was that we could not benefit from the Deuch travel ticker that cost €49 and you can travel all over Germany by trains , trams and buses , for a month , but it is only for Germans and not for the European countries as well , which I find unfair . We were happy with our Hotel but we had no Wifi in our room , we could only use their Wifi in the ground floor .

Surprising city.
Surprising city. Some very nice, historic areas, and excellent shopping malls and streets. Lots of good cafes and restaurants.
As with most cities, it is quite busy with traffic, and is noisy throughout the night with major roads running through and around it. Also, again like many places, some neighbourhoods can feel a little unsafe, with groups of people gathering and drinking on corners etc.
Worth noting that many cafes and small convenience stores only accept cash, or only take card payments above a certain amount. There are plenty of ATMs, but the ones not at a bank can charge very high fees to withdraw cash.
Whilst the city is easy to walk around and not huge, the tram is a brilliant way to get around. Day tickets are reasonably priced, and you can travel pretty far out to neighbouring towns and cities. They do get busy around morning and evening rush hours, and they can get very full.
Food and beverage prices get higher the closer you get to the tourist areas. The main tourist area is around the Water Tower. Some nice cafes around the gardens, but be prepared to pay more for things there.
There are some really excellent places to eat dotted around the city. Mainly small independent spots, and prices are generally very reasonable. Of these, I can highly recommend Caffe Sammo, Baguelette Café, Henriette Burger Bar, and JAMY'S Burger which are all places we ate. Some of the service can be a little slow, but I don't know whether that was because of the time/day we went, or whether there were shortages of staff. Nothing major, but not necessarily what everyone might expect.
Overall, Mannheim is a decent place. I wouldn't say it's a tourist heaven, and it is fairly mundane in many ways. We were there visiting our daughter at Mannheim University, but I probably wouldn't have the city very high on a list of German tourist destinations.

Very pleasantly surprised by the city.
Very pleasantly surprised by the city. Excellent shopping facilities with a number of malls and pedestrianised shopping streets. Some beautiful architecture in some of the older buildings.
Great transport links, with trams and buses, although it's possible to walk almost everywhere. Lively nightlife and it seemed that all the bars and restaurants had the nicest staff.
The Water Tower and the gardens around it are probably the visual highlight, but the university is a very impressive building, and there are a number of churches as well.

Was able to wander around town with food centres close by without having to walk to look. The tram service was reliable except for #4. at the moment of writing. Museums, parks, and other places of interest were within walking distance from each other
We liked the hotel because it was quite spacious (lobby, hallway, restaurant etc.). Also it is located close to the "Kunsthalle", city center and an Italian restaurant. The hotel room was quite quiet event it was located towards the main road.
The breakfast was nice and abundant and newspapers (e.g. Financial Times) were also available.
Close to the hotel is a public parking garage for (I guess) €18 / day. But you get a discount from the hotel such that it costs €10 / day (i.e. 0 - 24)
I stumbled upon this Best western after staying in their other hotel which is near to a concert hall that I went to. I would come back to this hotel again and in fact did so on my return trip from Switzerland on route back to the UK. Great brewery pub a short walk away and large supermarket over the road. Easy to park and a greta breakfast for 12 Euros. I shall return here for any trips that require a stop over in Germany.
The room was quite big. There were 4 of us and there were two queen size beds and a double bed. There was plenty of space and we had a fridge. The receptionists were helpful and friendly. We could check in early because our room was ready. The hotel was in central Mannheim with easy access to restaurants, shops and attractions.
We made a pitstop in Mannheim for a night on a road trip Sweden -Italy. Perfect hotel for our needs. Garage. Effective service at check-in. Clean rooms, good beds, nice bathrooms. An OK bar.
In the very center of Mannheim so easy to find a plethora of restaurants. Breakfast was included -very generous and high value.
The staff were very warm and friendly. The hotel is a bit dated but they have done well to maintain it and keep it clean and comfortable. Worth a stay if on a budget. Location was perfect! Lots of restaurants, stores nearby and with direct bus connections to the Mannheim train station and other areas.
This was my second stay at the hotel and I again enjoyed it very much. It's the perfect hotel for city dwellers. The rooms are comfortable and the furniture is modern and functional. The staff is helpful and friendly.
The hotel was very nice, close to the center and the food in the lobby was good
The only things is that the bed was not so comfortable and the public area in the floor is not clean with very old carpet
The hotel was centrally located in Mannheim.
It's a family run hotel and all the family were very friendly.
I dined in the hotel on one evening and the food and service was also excellent.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, close to the bahnhof few minutes walk, nice big lobby, bar and restaurant available at the hotel. Rooms were very big, very convenient.
Comfortable beds, hot water in the shower, modern bathrooms, parking under the hotel, many restaurants nearby, quick check-in, helpful staff and good temperature in the room.
One of the best hotels in dealing with customers
All employees are courteous and professional
The hotel is near to all places, be it shopping, train station or city centre
It’s my second time stay at this hotel and I absolutely love it. Friendly staff. The location could not have been better, close most of the city's attractions!
