The host Philippe is really very social and friendly. Someone who likes communication with other people feels very well. The building has inside the atmosphere of an old castle.
It felt very unsafe, even for Sunday, in the city center.
It felt very unsafe, even for Sunday, in the city center. We haven't seen any police or other public servants anywhere, the city is filled with people of all types and mainly poor people asking for money. Also, you could smell weed everywhere and rubbish. Broken bottles on the sidewalk, urine smell and a bad feel about the whole place. This is the city center. The whole impression is of a decaying city, unsafe and not that tourist friendly. Will probably never return.

the city is under construction works (obviously to have a better face in the future) but it doesn't seem the safest place to wonder on the streets..a lot of digging and broken streets due to the renovation works in the whole city..i wouldn't spend more than a day here

The town is well located for day trips to Bruxelles, Brugge and Luxembourg. Town itself has many little cafés and restaurants as well as popular chains. A nice warm shopping mall in the center. Extensive redevelopment going on everywhere (railway station and road junctions). Palais de Beaux Arts seemed firmly closed when I visited (a Saturday in January) despite many posters advertising it. I will come back, but when it's warmer.

The Charleroi is cozy small town with good restaurants (like Cafe Le Luxembourg).
Good point for accomodation and place near to Brussel (only 1 hour to Brussel centre by car or train) if you are planning to visit the capital city.
Good architecture and place for walk.

We had stayed in Charleroi many years ago, and found big changes. The bus Station at Charleroi Sud (now known as Charleroi Central is now very big) and is still under construction. Once finished the area will be lovely. There are lots of competitively priced accommodations to choose from. The public transport system is excellent from trams to buses to trains. Everyone is very friendly and going at Christmas was special. A couple of Christmas markets to see and the ice rink looked good fun. Since we last visited - several years ago - a shopping centre has been opened which has many shops to visit. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas - was lovely and warm and catered for everyone. I would say don’t use use Charleroi for passing through, spend at least a day and enjoy what it has to offer. We are locally and found the food very good and varied.

Charleroi is a good place to stay if travelling around and has good rail links to Brussels. The centre has seen better days and looks run down when walking around at night. I was travelling around a a lot so was just based there as handy for Brussels south airport and my early morning departure flight home. Not a lot in the way of sights as its a ex industry
area.
Sweet Home is a wonderful option for those who decided to explore this wonderful country and is arriving at Charleroi Airport. The house is quiet and the rooms are very comfortable. The bed was excellent, and the room had everything stated on this site including a kettle, some coffee and tea, etc. But I would like to send my special greetings and gratitude to the amazing host of Sweet Home, dear Frenande, who took great care of me and helped me with many things. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back again soon!!
The hotel is very convenient for both bus and train stations. It is a short walk to all the main attractions. The room was quite large and comfortable. I expect most people staying will be using Charleroi airport but in fact the town is a pretty amazing place to wander (though largely dug up at present). There is a wealtth of art deco and art nouveau buildings - the town hall should on no account be missed. The newly reopened art gallery is excellent (it has recently moved so older guide books will be incorrect).
The room was flawless, clean and simple. There was even an extra bed. The bathroom and toilet are shared but it was quite clean. We stayed only one night but the room made us want to stay more, the neighborhood was calm and there is a big supermarket, a bakery and more you need. The host was also super kind and helped us to reach Charleroi airport. We'd definitely stay there for our next trip.
Friendly staff. Room was clean, bed very comfortable. Late open bar, also options for dinner/lunch (untill 11 for both I think). Location is louder, but we were prepared for that (it's smart to ask for room on the back side of hotel maybe, we didn't do that, so our view was towards main road). Perfect for lay over before or after your flight. Taxi (arranged by hotel) to CH Airport is 17€.
IT's what you expect of a Airport Hotel, nice place, clean, close to the airport. i Recommend to call them in advance of your arrival for them to arrange airport pick up (5 euro)... although getting out of the terminal can be little confusing.
If you dont have much luggage and tather like to walk, no matter how close they are; it's about a 35 minutes walk as there's no straigh sidewalk.
Because of its proximity to Charleroi Airport, this accommodation is ideal for an overnight stay before a journey. Our flat was at the building's entrance and faced the street, so it was noisier than the other flats. The bed is comfortable. The little kitchen has the essentials. Parking in the street. Restful sleep without luxury.
The hotel is close to the airport and motorways, has a restaurant on site and the family rooms are big. The breakfast buffet is generous and the hotel offers a preferential tariff for airport parking. Overall, this is an excellent hotel for a family of four to stay prior to a flight from Charleroi.
The hotel looks fresh & new; it is quite large; located in the city center; there are restaurants & shopping center in the vicinity; the hotel has a good bar with food; the beds are comfortable; it takes 15 minutes to get to the airport, the train station is 5 minutes walk. The city is very quiet.
Perfect hotel for airport stop over. We had an early flight and the hotel is very close to the airport. We also left the car at the hotel for out short trip and picked it up when we arrived back. good taxi service to airport with parking for our car included in the cost. Nice, easy experience.
Nice airport hotel nearby Charleroi airport. We had two nights with late arrival and early departure and this hotel was great option for that. Everything went well, the staff was very friendly and the airport shuttle was arranged well too. We didn't try the breakfast.
The hotel is 10 minutes away from the airport. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. We needed to stay one night between flights and it was great value and close to the airport for the morning flight. The hotel offers free of charge the airport transfer.
We booked the room because we had an early flight from Charleroi next morning, and the hotel served this purpose perfectly. Super comfortable, clean, really helpful staff, who took us to the airport themselves (which was only a 10min drive away)
Location is great for an early flight- I used Ibis in Charleroi before, I will use this hotel from now on. Perfect location, necessary facilities, good transfer to airport. And very nice personnel
The hotel owner helped us out when his restaurant was closed and prepared us a meal. Really special service and the shuttle to the airport was right on time at 5 am!
