Tranquil location with nice grounds and twittering birds! Stayed in studio which was large and had everything I needed. It was great for my dog who had a chill out break from 3 days travelling from uk.
The couple who own it were welcoming and helpful. It would have been nice to stay longer especially as the weather turned hot and they were preparing to open the pool.

Our time at The Vagar Countryhouse was a trip highlight during a three-week trek around the entirety of Portugal. It is a stunning property with amazing bedding, delicious food, and a central location for touring local castles. Marta was an exceptional host. I can't say enough good things about our experience. The breakfasts were incredible. We enjoyed their salad and charcuterie board offerings one evening for dinner. Don't look any further if you seek a spot to feel pampered and welcome, out of the hustle and bustle of the coastal cities. Plus, leafing through several Architectural Digest magazines on display in the motherhouse and seeing our room featured was fun. Make sure to visit the castles of Sortelha and Monsanto.

We particularly liked the location of the apartment and the fact that it had its own terrace, the air conditioning certainly made our stay more comfy since the first day and evening were cold (around 11.03-15.03.24).
Being located right next to the castle, it´s easy to move around and explore the historical centre, it´s close to shops and everything you might need.
The apartment consists of a common large room with a big and comfortable twin bed, there´s the TV area and the small-ish kitchen to the left, going through the kitchen you´ll get to your own terrace, we loved having breakfast & dinner there, listening to the local band´s practice. The shower and WC room are 2 steps away from the bed, clean and functional.
We particularly loved the espresso machine (although the foamer didn´t work, we loved our espresso´s).

This is a hotel with a gorgeous view and with staff that are first class. I stayed here before, when it was a proper Pousada but losing that status has not lowered its standards. The restaurant staff were excellent, the food was OK

It's a great base from which to see the surrounding area - Beira Baixa and Serra da Estrela. The village itself has some interesting sights, but we thought there are more beautiful places to visit (like Sortelha). There was hardly any tourism.

The staff was wonderful.
The staff was wonderful. The restaurant was lovely, with very interesting menu choices, like partridge, and mushroom ice cream ( which was fabulous au natural, but didn’t like it when dressed with the sauces). Overall, the food was excellent, but also, a bit salty for me.
The breakfast could have been better, some dark rolls, and eggs would be nice. The coffee machine coffee burned my stomach, but I didn’t realize it until the 4th day! I thought there was something wrong with me until I left and my stomach got better. Then I realized it was the coffee!
Also, it was easy to drive to other great villages, like Monsanto and Sortelha.

We particularly enjoyed visiting the Jewish museum and Synagogue. We found the accommodation ideal as we were able to leave our dog there whilst we visited the museums. We enjoyed dinner in the local restaurant a few minutes away from the property.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, a beatiful location with nice views, the room was exactly as was described. The room has a double bed, a toilet with a shower, a small storage room with a fridge, coffee machine, kettle. Some orange juice, fresh bread, jam and grape liqueur, a small table in the room and a small table on the patio were all a nice touch, and we felt very welcome and well looked after. The property is a short drive away from the historic centre of Belmonte. We would happily go back again.
The hosts are so friendly and welcoming, it is like being a valued guest in a Portuguese home. The room has a very large and comfortable bed which was perfect for a good night's sleep. We found the room well equipped with facilities for making a drink and rolls, butter and orange juice ready for breakfast. Our dog was made to feel very welcome and the garden was fenced and secure. In the countryside just outside Belmonte and only minutes from the A23 motorway.
The hotel in general is very comfortable and modern. Though not located in the center, it is at walking distance from the main attractions of Belmonte. The room had a big balcony with a beautiful view to the mountains. The staff was very attentive. The breakfast is spectacular: you can enjoy a wide range of salty and sweet foods, plus a number of hot and cold drinks.
With its old-style walls and the fact that it's built right into the sloping terrain, the house perfectly captures the essence of the mountain village Belmonte. Parts of the rock face are still visible inside and become part of the wall decoration. Being a souterrain room it stays cool during the summer and makes for a cozy little cave.
This is one of the nicest places I have stayed anywhere in the world. Beautiful location and facilities, wonderful host and staff…super friendly and always helpful. The pool is a marvel and the food was fabulous. I hope I can come back someday.
Casa Miriam is a great place to overnight In Belmonte. Great location, super cleaned and well equipped. Don’t be scare of the church bells, between 22:00-07:00, the bells will be quiet 😂! The check in was super easy and great Wi-Fi service.
The location of the house in the town of Belmonte is fantastic, close to restaurants and amenities, after dark there was a fascinating view to the lights of neighboring towns in the distance.
Everything!!!! Location, hotel is in the building of monastery, personal, the interior, the food in restaurant was very delicious, wi-fi, parking and many things we liked about the hotel.
A spacious hotel in a good position with views across the valley. Good food and good parking. Pool was immaculate as were the gardens. In fact the whole place was really well cared for.
It is a unique hotel with unique young lady, Marta
It´s more than a hotel because they offer a whole senses experience in a big mention in the nature.
We recommend this great hotel!
Excellent location, good communication, small and enjoyable house close to synagogue and castle of Belmonte. Much recommended. Owned and operated by local inhabitant of Belmonte.
the hosts were very kind, they waited for us until we arrived, left us some orange juice and water in the bedroom, the room más clean, cute bedroom, nice boutique hotel 🤍
