The view for the pictures and all the castle is beautiful, but only for pictures and not from near view, you take a closer look and find many dust and not clean areas, absolutely not good maintenance on all the facilities!

The hotel faces Union Garden, and each room has a stylish name. The facilities are new and comfortable.
There are also L'Occitane amenities.
Unión Garden has live music until midnight, and while other hotels have complained of excessive noise, there was very little noise at this hotel (that's why we had very effective earplugs).
Breakfast was served at the upscale restaurant next door and was very delicious with coffee, fruit, bread, and a main dish.
Although the price is a little high, it is strongly recommended.

If you are going to Guanajuato to see the Historical Center...
If you are going to Guanajuato to see the Historical Center and be near restaurants and shops, find a place close to the center. Especially if you are older or have mobility issues. There are many steps and hills to get almost anywhere.

We loved Guanajuato and would go back sometime.
We loved Guanajuato and would go back sometime. We were only there two nights as a quick stop on our drive home to the US. It's an amazing city with the mining history and tunnels carved in the mountain. The architecture in the historic center is gorgeous, many buildings are from the 1700 and 1800s. We loved climbing the hill to the statue for the view as well as just wandering and exploring. There are all kinds of restaurants and street food, music in the streets every night and lots of shops of souvenirs. We recommend spending several days here.

Small, wonderful, kaleidoscopic, walkable, and friendly city...
Small, wonderful, kaleidoscopic, walkable, and friendly city to visit and explore. Great range of activities available: art and architecture, museums and music venues and food options (from street food on up) and hiking in the surrounding hills. Speaking Spanish helps, even if at a rudimentary level like mine. Guanajuato is an easy to just be. And if you forget the sunscreen ... farmacias to the rescue! Enjoy your visit.

It is a beautiful city with lots to explore. It is more historic and lots of walking but we enjoyed. My kids enjoyed it even with it not being a lot of attractions geared towards children. Lots of street vendors and delicious foods.

The people were very friendly.
The people were very friendly. A lot of walking goes on with very little other transportation. There are definitely a huge number of people walking the street that usually come up from the tunnels. The tunnels being the major source of entrance into the city. The parks are usually full of people walking around and in the evenings they have lots of songs and and other activities.
We arrived by car and did not know Guanajuato. The GPS service was very bad and we kept getting lost. The tunnels are spectacular but reception was terrible. We were quickly lost and the GPS kept sending us elsewhere. I called the hotel and they sent someone out to meet us. We appreciated that because the police only gave us 5 minutes to move. So thank you! The location of this hotel is right in front of all major center landmarks, dining and music. If you like peace and quiet, this may not be the right location for you.
The staff is amazing. Ani and Alex are the heart of the hostel and make the stay amazing!! Without them it wouldn't be so good. They're funny, friendly, super flexible. Beds are comfy. The private room is just amazing! Its huge. The dorm is also nice, small (not too many people) and comfy. Location is perfect. Food is amazing downstairs (the only good sushi I found in mexico) its cheap and delicious ans hostel stayers get 15% discount. It makes up for the lack of kitchen. Also several vegan options!
I loved the view. Ramiro has a GREAT sense of humor. Francisco and Pillar are soooo nice!!
If you are worried about the steps, I have Cerebral Palsy. And I LOVED our stay!!! We payed Francisco to help haul our bags.
This is Mexico not the states. People shouldn't be writing reviews about the smell in Guanajuato. Concrete buildings and plumbing are different here. The staff went above and beyond to please and make things ultra clean.
.
The staff was nice, they accomodated us as best as they could. They work with a tour company that offers several tours, it picks up guest at the front of the hotel and drops off there too. The breakfast was good and the location of this hotel is perfect for being away from the center, but still close enough to the garden del cantado, shops and city center. Guanajuato was beautiful and staying here made it comfortable and enjoyable.
Omar is the kindest host in a B&B I've ever met. He was super accommodating when we extended our stay. When we felt under the weather, he got a friend to bring over a digital thermometer. (No fever, thank goodness.) Every morning started with a different breakfast on the roof top: with no repeats. The view from the room and the rooftop is spectacular. If you're visiting Guanajuato City, do yourself a favour and stay here.
The service and staff at Hotel La Casona de Don Lucas made our stay very enjoyable with their help arranging our tours and information on fun things to do and visit. Great bunch of friendly people. - Guanajuato is a friendly beautiful city with lots of great places to visit, and "The Callejeneadas" is something not to miss, as is tour with lots of fun the music. We would love to return someday.
Great place if you're on a budget and want to walk to the Centro Historico. Confusing that the place also calls itself Santos Hotel Boutique, absolutely nothing boutique about it!! Decent accomodation very leanly run, no one at the front desk allowed for a lot of unruly guests to make noise in the wee hours of the am. Location close to a busy intersection doesn't help much either.
I love that this hotel is in a neighborhood just uphill from Plaza Baratillo. Paulina is a lovely person and a fabulous hostess. Casa Azul is a rambling old house with loads of character, and lots of stairs. I'd begin each day on the roof terrace with coffee, listening to the roosters and church bells, and enjoying the incredible views over the city!
This was my best experience in Mexico! the staff are so so freaking abd helpful! they helped me with everything which made my train very special! the location is perfect, in the city center and close from everything! I was able to use the washing machine for free and there is a nice restaurant downstairs:)
Good location, only 10 mins walk from the city center.
Friendly and accommodating staff.
Cosy rooms, the bed had warm blankets so it was not cold (while in the room it gets quite chilly in the winter season as there is no heating).
Clear instructions to find the hotel provided by the owner.
Super big, gorgeous, comfortable, accommodating friendly hotel and staff. Room was awesome for a good price. There is surprisingly little traffic noise considering it's right next to the highway, though a little does come from the pool area.
A taxi to the centro costs about 800 pesos.
I booked this hotel because of the view, but got much more. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. I felt very safe and comfortable as a solo traveler. Loved the free funicular pass to get the the city center. Great stay overall.
The location is really at central and easy for movement. The room was excellent because it have good view. Bed are really comfortable. Room is spacious for junior suite which i like it. overall it really good experience to stay at Guanajuato in this hotel.
The location is ideal to enjoy the gorgeous city of Guanajuato. The host (or person who checked us in) was very communicative and nice, we really appreciate their help. The space is pretty big for the value and pretty cute.
Little nice boutique hotel with a very unique design in every room. It was clean; the owner is very nice, you can use the kitchen and dining room. It’s walking distance from downtown Guanajuato, a very nice walk and safe.
Perfect location right in the center, within easy walking distance of everything I wanted to see. Generous room with a little balcony. Good Wi-Fi. Great bed (wish all hotels in Mexico had this kind of bed).
the place is amazing, it looks like a little castle in the middle of the city and with an amazing view from their balconies, also huge parking lot which is not easy to find in Guanajuato
Amazing place! This will be my top 10 in the world I have been. Atmosphere, host, interior, light games in the room. Comfortable bed, history and details. My top 1 in Mexico.
